Hardcore punk emerged from the straight edge subculture. This style of music was called ‘hardcore’ because it was played at a high speed. It was also very short, lasting only two minutes or less. ![]() At 32 minutes, Jazzy Vibes is as breezy and lightweight as the title suggests, but the ten tracks we get here all are pretty dope. They were influenced by American punk rock groups like The Ramones and the New York Dolls. This album is a throwback to ’90s Golden Age Hip Hop with a 2020 spin, with mellow, jazz-infused production and boom-bap style beats, rhymes, and cuts & scratches. The 1980 punk subculture emerged from bands like Sex Pistols and Buzzcocks who started playing loud rock music. Punk also had its own language which included terms such as ‘daggers’, ‘skulls’, and ‘bomber jackets.’ Punks have been seen as a precursor to the grunge movement in the 90s. The punks of the 80s wore black clothes, mohawks, and safety pins as symbols of their rebellion. 1980s punk subculture was exemplified by a reaction against mainstream society and an anti-establishment message.
